We're a little crazy, about science!

Trump is out, but there’s still work.

Well today started off with me thinking it was going to be yet another election day. However, surprise of surprises, they finally called it. Biden will be our 46th president. We will have not only our first Black VP, but a Black Woman! I don’t particularly care for either of there politics, but it’s a baby step from the brink, so let’s take a day to celebrate because there is a lot of work to do.

The Trump era is over, but that doesn’t mean that this is the end and now we get to relax. The system that created Trump — that exalted him as someone who deserves to represent us — that system is still in place. The policies the GOP had in place, those still exist. As much as I hate to say it, some of those policies were Democrat backed.

We have work to do. It’s as simple as that. There is still so much hatred and I don’t think that will ever go away, not completely. The policies need to be changed and that can’t happen if we focus on coming together as a nation. Yes, I know that’s the line, we need to come together! Well when half the nation wants the Nazis in power, I don’t think those are people I want to come together with.

Look, I’m tired, we’re all tired. It’s been four years of this shit. What I’m saying is that it’s okay to take a moment. Once you do, it’s time to push the needle back towards the left. It’s hard to have a country where everyone is supposed to be equal when you have half of it fighting to make sure that doesn’t happen, but we need to do it.

I don’t know what the next four years are going to look like. I don’t expect to see kids being freed from their cages or police brutality being criminalized, at least not anytime soon. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens next, I mean future usually means thinking hopeful thoughts. In the future we have world peace and flying cars, but we need to be the ones to do the work to get to that future. If not, we’ll just end up with more of the same.
