We're a little crazy, about science!

Day 59: Two Random Variables Q1

Well now that we’ve had a minute to take a breath, let’s try out something new. In this post I will give the question and in the next post we can work out the answer. For those of you playing at home, this will be a good way to check your knowledge and for me, it will give the the chance to do the same.*

Let’s start with something somewhat straight forward. For today, let’s look at this problem, we have a joint pdf of X and Y which is defined by

Problem1

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, define what z = x-y would be. Next, find the pdf of z.

Do your best and tomorrow we can go over how to solve it and what the correct solution looks like. We will introduce new topics soon, but for now it would be wise to review some more.

Until next time, don’t stop learning!

*My dear readers, please remember that I make no claim to the accuracy of this information; some of it might be wrong. I’m learning, which is why I’m writing these posts and if you’re reading this then I am assuming you are trying to learn too. My plea to you is this, if you see something that is not correct, or if you want to expand on something, do it. Let’s learn together!!

But enough about us, what about you?
