Day 147: First day in the lab

A semi good photo of our lab!
Today is the first day in the lab since break. It was nice to have some time off, I got some housework done, got to spend the bulk of my time sick (not my idea of fun), and best of all I got to see some of the city. It’s been good and now that I’m ready to get back to it, the week is looking to be busy.
The nice part about working in a lab with a lot of other people (opposed to my old lab where it was just a handful of us) is that we all take the same classes — for the most part. Well it just so happens someone else in the lab has taken the class I am taking this term and I found out that there is going to be the potential to publish in a journal. That would be super cool, although I already have a lot of work ahead of me with this new project so not the best timing. Spoiler, I’m still going to say screw it and just do the work, probably not the best approach, but why not?
I have surgery this week, but I need a custom fit binder (brace) for my post surgery use. This brace is supposed to keep me from over reaching and moving too much, but guess what? Still haven’t gotten it. For those of you who follow along, I SHOULD have gotten it a week ago. So needless to say I’m just a little anxious since I need it ASAP. I’ve made calls, had people angry about me calling them (seriously VA… seriously?), but I still don’t know where it is or when I would be getting it. With surgery just a few days out, I don’t know what I will end up doing if I don’t get it in time.
Okay, that brings me to tomorrow. Tomorrow I am meeting my Co-PI and his colleague to discuss what’s going to happen in the next two weeks, basically I’m going to be recovering from surgery while doing a million experiments. I know I’ve already covered a lot of this, but hey it’s happening so I wanted to go over it. In any case, I have a bunch to do today and class this afternoon, so here we go!
But enough about us, what about you?
