Day 115: Conference time!

airplane-travel

Well today is the day, I’m packed and ready for the … festivities? Okay, so maybe not something that is a party, but conferences are a good chance to meet with people and share ideas. While this is a small one for our research group, it’s still a way to let others know what advancements have been made in the field.

From now until sunday, posts are probably going to be short. Tomorrow is our annual meeting to discuss our project progress. However, after that, I have the neurotech workshop that I am a student chair for. That will be where the exciting bit really comes in.

I will have the chance to meet with people from all over the world as well as important people in my field. People from places like NIH, NSF, and DARPA. To say that I am just a little intimidated would be an understatement. However, I’m excited about the networking opportunities and getting the chance to meet people from fields similar, but not the same, as my own.

Cross disciplinary work is some of my favorite, that is basically what I did for my Masters and now (somewhat) what I am doing for my PhD. Basically for the next few days, expect travel photos and brief updates. Once I’m back I’ll give a rundown of the event as best as I can.

Friendly reminder, once I am back I will be busy preparing for my qualifying exam, which is just two days after I return (Tuesday). Don’t worry, there will be an update (or maybe even two) about that as well. It’s going to be a busy few days, but I’m excited to share all the events with you all. For now, I have a flight to catch!

Until next time, don’t stop learning!

But enough about us, what about you?
